PLATFORMS

The GTDS has created a meeting and discussion forum on urban issues open to the participation of institutional decision-makers, experts, professionals, civil society and interested specialists through the platform FORUM FOR DISCUSSIONS ON INTEGRATED URBAN AND TERRITORIAL REGENERATION. The purpose of this platform is to promote the hosting of regular seminars to debate, disseminate and present experiences and research in fields related to the Group's activities.

NETWORKS AND SCIENTIFIC SOCIETIES

GTDS is a member of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and of the Spanish Network for Sustainable Development (REDS). The mission of both networks is to rally and raise awareness among Spanish society, public institutions and the corporate world to ensure a more rigorous and committed understanding of the new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) unanimously adopted at the United Nations General Assembly held in New York on 25 September 2015 (United Nations General Assembly Resolution 70/1 "Transforming our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development", A/RES/70/01, available at http://www.un.org/es/comun/docs/?symbol=A/RES/70/1). The mission of both networks is to rally and raise awareness among Spanish society, public institutions and the corporate world to ensure a more rigorous and committed understanding of the new Sustainable Development Goals.

On 18 May 2020, the University of Oviedo formally joined the European School of Sustainability Science and Research (ESSSR), which is headed by the University of Hamburg and aims to promote the participation of European universities in developing courses and research projects related to sustainable development. The GTDS research group will act as the sole liaison between the University of Oviedo and ESSSR. More information about the ESSSR can be found at the following link https://esssr.eu.

The GTDS coordinates the Thematic Network on Urban Development URBAN RED, within the State Programme for the Promotion of Scientific and Technical Research of Excellence, State Sub-programme for Knowledge Generation, within the framework of the State Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2013-2016, in the "Networks of Excellence" dynamisation actions category. Within this framework, activities will be developed to promote collaboration between the network groups, and in particular, activities leading to the development of the open data portal as a tool to facilitate access to the legislation applicable to the implementation, management and monitoring of strategies and programmes for Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development (DUSI).

The GTDS collaborates with the GLOCAL-RES research group. GLOCAL-RES is a research group belonging to a wider project. The Campus of International Excellence -CEI- Intelligent Energy was created based on the desires of two public universities, Rey Juan Carlos University and University of Alcalá, and the support of three other public universities associated to the project -University of Murcia, Polytechnic University of Cartagena and University of Extremadura-, and is becoming a model in the fields of bioenergy and intelligent infrastructures.

The GTDS promotes the exchange of knowledge among research groups in Latin America on the role of legal systems in sustainable urban development processes, within the framework of specific programmes linked to Academic and Scientific Cooperation Agreements and to Cooperation for Development programmes between the University of Oviedo, the Land Management and Promotion Agency (SOGEPSA) and the Habitat-Colombia Foundation (extended on 17 April 2015) and the Academic and Scientific Cooperation Agreement and Cooperation for Development programme between the University of Oviedo (Spain) and the University of Salvador (Argentina).

The GTDS is involved in the international project "Significant Experiences of Social and Urban Reconstruction" headed by the School of Architecture of Universidad Piloto (Bogotá-Colombia).

The GTDS is also participating in the project "Legal Framework for the Definition, Development and Evaluation of Sustainable Urban Development Activities" in collaboration with the School of Legal Sciences of the University of Salvador-USAL (Buenos Aires-Argentina).

The GTDS, through its PI, María Rosario Alonso Ibáñez, is a member of the Spanish Right to Food Observatory. The Spanish Right to Food Observatory (ODA-E) is a multidisciplinary academic network that aims to generate knowledge, promote interdisciplinary research and exchange experiences, with the goal of providing relevant inputs to support political and social processes in Spain in order to guarantee food for all people in a fair, sustainable, equitable and healthy way.
