History

Its origin, in 2003, was nothing other than the confluence in time of a common sensitivity for the correct development of land use and spatial planning of a group of professors belonging to three different University Departments who had been tackling these issues from their respective academic fields (Law, Economics, Geography). Since then, its members have combined their collective activities in research and knowledge transfer with proposals for action based on a multidisciplinary approach, fully aware of the need to incorporate new research methodologies in the field of urban and territorial sustainability, thus helping to strengthen the robustness of their work.

Until 2011, the headquarters of the Group was linked to the Open University Venue of Casa de la Buelga. The GTDS is currently integrated into the Department of Public Law of the University of Oviedo.
